Fort Hays State University media studies student Ryan Newton, Ellis senior, was recently awarded a $100 grant by the National Broadcasting Society. Newton was awarded the grant to help reduce the expenses for his upcoming trip to the NBS annual national convention from March 5-8 in St. Louis, MO.

Newton's "Informational Video" was awarded an Honorable Mention at the NBS Heartland Regional competition last fall in Milwaukee, WI.

Assistant Professor of Information Networking and Telecommunications Becky Kiser said, "Winners of the NBS Convention Grant are selected nationwide among candidates based on their GPA, experience in the broadcasting industry, both academically and professionally, and leadership in their local NBS chapter."

Newton was one of 10 recipients of the grant from across the nation.
