Livestock judging team competes in South Dakota, Mississippi

Five Fort Hays State University livestock judging team members traveled to Sioux Falls, SD, on Jan. 30 and 31 to participate in the Sioux Empire Farm Show Judging Contest.

Individuals placing high were Tressie Bryant, Penokee junior, ninth in cattle judging, and Brandon Gibson, Meriden senior, 35th in oral reasons.

They also traveled to Jackson, MS, on Feb. 4-9 to compete in the Dixie National, where the team took seventh place.

"Our team lacks a lot of the experience in our competition, but we are slowly gaining on them," said Kolby Burch, livestock judging coach. "Our attitudes are positive and we will continue to work hard in order to accomplish our goals."

The students are listed below by hometown.

Concordia: Bo Ringer, junior.
Larned: Levi Mitzner, junior.
Meriden: Brandon Gibson, senior.
Penokee: Tressie Bryant, junior.
Ransom: Jerod Horchem, sophomore.
