Fort Hays State University's students and community members are invited to celebrate the Chinese New Year at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, in McMindes Hall's East Living Room on the FHSU campus.
The animal for the year is the sheep. Those who were born in 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979 and 1991 will have the chance to celebrate their animal year. Animals recur in a 12-year cycle.
To celebrate the Chinese New Year, the students will present many authentic performances which will include an opera, a folk dance, musical numbers, an interactive game and a comedy, in which a Chinese girl studying in the United States returns home with her American boyfriend.
PowerPoint presentations will be shown to provide information about China, Taiwan and Malaysia.
The Chinese Student Association, the International Student Union and the Student Government Association will sponsor the event.
The celebration is free and open to the students and the public.
