01/22/2003

Fort Hays State University's chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, an international association for professional educators, recently earned the prestigious Award of Excellence for the 2001-2002 Newsletter Contest.

Phi Delta Kappa's mission is to promote quality education for all as essential to the development and maintenance of a democratic way of life by providing innovative programs, relevant research, visionary leadership and dedicated service.

Its membership is comprised of pre-service and professional educators at all levels and in all fields. Educators can join the local chapter after receiving an invitation from any existing member.

The FHSU chapter has won several times in this yearly contest, which is sponsored by Phi Delta Kappa International. Dr. Germaine Taggart, associate professor of teacher education, is the PDK editor and Jaclyn White, senior administrative assistant for University Relations, is the newsletter designer.
