Research by FHSU's Davidson, Haitian colleague to be published through international body

Dr. Janice Unruh Davidson, professor of nursing at Fort Hays State University, and Margaret DeJong, nurse practitioner with Hospital Lumiere in Haiti, have received publication of their international research through the International Council of Nurses' Second Annual International Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing Network Conference held in early November in Australia.

Davidson served as first author for the research abstract "Evidence-Based Practice and Cultural Competence: Contributions of Nurse Practitioners to the International Community." The international effort serves as part of Davidson's research trajectory to use evidence-based practice to further address the primary care needs of international populations.

The international nurse practitioner research team, headed by Davidson, will present a related paper, "Application of Evidence-Based Medicine to Evidence-Based Nursing: Educational Strategies that Work in Advanced Practice," this summer at the International Evidence-Based Practice Preconference to the 14th International Nursing Research Congress sponsored by the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau.
