Local interior design student wins Oklahoma competition

Breanna McRae, Rose Hill junior, brought home to Fort Hays State University a first-place award -- the Brass Ring -- in the Residential Design category of Oklahoma Christian University's art and design competition recently in Oklahoma City.

The contest drew more than 500 contestants from 14 universities in seven states. The competition was open to both graphic artists and interior designers.

Judging criteria were design concept statement, presentation, creativity and appropriateness of the solution.

Charmion Arthur, instructor of art in the interior design program of FHSU's Department of Art, said that the projects also had to be the results of classroom or academic assignments.
