Students enrolled in the Fort Hays State University Leadership Technology program at Pratt Community College earned first place in the four-year division at the 2005 North American College and Teachers of Agriculture contest in mid-April in Norfolk, NE.
PCC's Agriculture Power Technology Department was also awarded first place overall in the two-year division at the 2005 North American College and Teachers of Agriculture contest. The teams went up against 500 individual competitors and 35 different two- and four-year schools. Students in Ag Power competed in various subject matter involving agriculture, both written and hands-on, at the NACTA competition.
FHSU's students, who attend at PCC through the college's Agriculture Power Technology Department, not only won first place in the overall competition, but three team members also took first, second and sixth in the top six individual scores.
Team members are Jake Bingaman, Pratt senior; Keith Strohl, Cunningham junior; Kevin Volavka, Caldwell junior; and Carl Flitz, Pratt senior. Bingaman earned first place overall, Strohl placed second and Volavka placed sixth.
