FHSU artist's work selected for three March shows

Amy Schmierbach, assistant professor of art at Fort Hays State University, was selected to be in three exhibitions in March 2005.

She was awarded the Juror's Award in the 27th Annual Topeka Exhibition in Topeka (March 5 - April 9) for her installation "blue." She was awarded a Merit Award in the Hays Arts Council's 21st Annual 5-State Photography Competition (Feb. 18- March 18) for her color photograph titled "Smoky Hill River Valley."

She was also invited to participate in an exhibition at The Wichita Center for the Arts (March11-April 8) that included a large scale, fiber based installation and pencil drawings. This exhibition includes eight innovative artists from Kansas who create contemporary art and utilize nontraditional materials and subject matter.
