FHSU Theatre to present "Sylvia"

"Sylvia" is a comedy by A R. Gurney about man's best friend. The play is subtitled "I dated her but she was a dog." "This is a comedy about people and their relationships with dogs," said Dr. Lloyd Frerer, professor of communication and director of the production.

The play is slated to run from Thursday, March 2, until Sunday, March 5, at 8 p.m. each evening at Fort Hays State University's Felten-Start Theatre in Malloy Hall.

The play is being directed by Dr. Lloyd Frerer, professor of communication. Bruce Bardwell, assistant professor of communication, and Tomme Lynn Williams, instructor of communication, are designing the play.

The cast includes Orlena Otero, McPherson junior, as Sylvia; and Bryce Ostrom, Hays junior, and Jennifer Dolezal, Hays senior, as her owners. Other cast members include Kathryn Affentranger, Oklahoma City freshman; Brandon Bleakley, Hays, and Katerina Tsetsura, Voronez, Russia, graduate student.

The play's author, Mr. Gurney, will be the guest of honor at the Wm. Inge Festival in Indepenence, KS, next month.

Reserved tickets can be bought by contacting the box office in Malloy Hall at (785) 628-4225. Tickets may also be bought the night of the performance.

Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $6 for students.
