FHSU team travels to cattle judging contest

The Fort Hays State University Livestock Judging Team went on the road for the first time in six years when team members traveled to the Dec. 12 Express Ranches Cattle Judging Contest in Yukon, OK.

Sophomores Levi Mitzner and Jerod Horchem both received individual awards. Mitzer finished 21st in individual overall placing and Horchem placed 19th in oral reasons. Overall, the team finished 15th out of 18 teams.

"Our team is extremely young and inexperienced. We only have one direction to go and that is up, " said Kolby Burch, livestock judging coach. "I'm confident that we will continue to improve at each contest and eventually achieve our goals. I'm proud of their efforts."
