Fostering peaceable school environments will be the focus of the first meeting of the spring semester for Fort Hays State University's Phi Delta Kappa chapter.
The meeting will be held Friday, March 10, at 7 p.m. in the Black and Gold Ballroom in the Memorial Union. The meeting will be sponsored by Phi Delta Kappa International, FHSU Phi Delta Kappa chapter, FHSU Kansas Student National Education Association chapter and the Ellis County RURAL Grant. The meeting is open to the public.
Guest speakers at the meeting will be Jennifer Kitson and Leslie Paige, Rural Underpinnings for Resiliency and Linkages (RURAL) Grant Coordinators for Hays USD 489.
Kitson and Paige will discuss the RURAL Grant and lead the meeting's participants in a study regarding safe school environments. The basis for discussion will be former Kansan Vicky Dill's book, "A Peaceable School."
The first 50 FHSU students and the first 50 community members or educators will receive copies of Dill's book.
