Several FHSU INT Media Studies students took top honors at the regional 2001-2002 National Broadcasting Society Heartland Regional student competition.
Alpha Epsilon Rho, the honors division of NBS, and NBS are professional societies for students of the media.
The Heartland Region is comprised of the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. Also included are the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Sara Albright, Wakefield senior, and Dylan Myers, Dodge City senior, took first place in the Instructional/Industrial/Promotional Video Program for their presentation "The Center for Health Improvement."
Jenna Stout, Plainville senior, was awarded first place in the Video Feature Package category. Stout's presentation was "Phillipsburg Riverless Festival."
Stout also received first place for her presentation "In Too Deep" in the Video Music/Variety/Special Program. She received an honorable mention in the Experimental Video category for "As the Barbie Turns."
First place for the Video News Package category was awarded to Mike Harding, Hays senior, and Stout. They presented "Hays Public Library Groundbreaking Expansion."
Ryan Newton, Ellis junior, received an honorable mention for his contribution "The Northwest Kansas Stroke Support Group" in the Video Commercial/Promo/PSA competition.
The awards were presented Oct. 26, 2002, during the annual NBS Heartland Regional convention in Milwaukee, WI.
First place winners automatically are entered into the upcoming national NBS competition in St. Louis, MO.
