FHSU athletes become Academic All-Americans

Nine men and nine women athletes from Fort Hays State University were placed on the Track Coaches Association 2002 Academic All-American team.

Athletes had to meet and maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) and make the provisional qualifying mark in their event to be considered for the team.

FHSU's 35 women athletes academically ranked third in the nation for their composite GPA of 3.44. The 58 Tiger men finished 19th in the nation for their 3.067 GPA.

Qualifying students were evaluated on last years track season.

Students placed on the Academic All-American team are listed below by hometown and classification.

BELLEVILLE: Amy Farlee, sophomore.
BELOIT: LeeAnn Grace, senior; Casey Seyfert, 2001 spring graduate.
BUNKER HILL: Tony Milhon, senior.
COLWICH: Maggie Eck, senior.
CONCORDIA: Travis Esslinger, junior.
CUBA: Jay Joy, senior.
GARDEN CITY: Bree Butler, junior.
GRINNELL: Nick Capo, 2001 spring graduate.
HAYS: Casey Antholz, freshman; Sabrina Jensen, senior.
LOGAN: Nathan Jones, senior.
NESS CITY: Holly Fehrenback, junior.
PENOKEE: Amy Parks, senior.
SALINA: Adam Moos, senior.
WASHINGTON: Richard Baskerville, sophomore.
WETMORE: Greta Osterhaus, 2001 spring graduate.

BROKEN BOW: Sabrina Jensen, senior.
SCOTTSBLUFF: Erica Kuhn, freshman.
