Fort Hays State University's Small Business Development Center is offering three workshops on taxes during the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 1.
The first workshop will be held from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Golden Belt One-Stop Career Center in Great Bend.
The second workshop, located in Hays, will be held from 8:30 to noon Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
The third workshop will be held from 8:30 to noon Thursday, Oct. 31, at the Chamber of Commerce office in Colby.
The workshops are to clarify important tax information that can be time-consuming and often confusing for many business owners. The information that will be provided at all of the workshops is an effort to ease time spent filing Department of Revenue documents and is provided by the Taxpayer Education Unit of the Kansas Department of Revenue.
Topics to be discussed include Kansas income tax withholding requirements, filing requirements, recordkeeping, Kansas consumers' compensating use tax and purchases with exemption certificates.
Registration fees for each respective workshop are $25 and the deadline is set for Tuesday, Oct. 22. After the deadline registration will be $35.
