Fort Hays State University's Dr. Paul Adams, associate professor of physics, recently had an article accepted for publication in the Journal of School Science and Mathematics.
The article, "Collaborations for Reform in Higher Education Visionary Academics," was co-authored with faculty members from Purdue University and will be featured in the October 2002 edition of the journal.
Over the summer, Adams also served as a member of the Educational Testing Services Standard Setting Panel for the Kansas Department of Education Physics Teaching Licensure test and, in July, he served as a consultant to the NASA Office of Space Science Education Products as part of a review team on education and public outreach materials for the Sun-Earth Connection Panel.
Adams presented a paper in August to the American Association of Physics Teachers in Boise, ID. The paper, "Assessing Teacher Enhancement Materials for Preservice Middle School Teachers," was a collaborative work produced by Adams and FHSU faculty members Dr. Ervin Elite, professor of mathematics and computer science; Dr. John Heinrichs, assistant professor of geosciences; Dr. Karen Hickman, associate professor of biological sciences; Dr. James Hohman, chair of the Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Germaine Taggart, associate professor of teacher education. The paper was based on a National Science Foundation project (NSF CCLI grant #DUE000088818).
