Young Readers Conference hosted at FHSU Oct. 18 &19

Fort Hays State University will host nationally known authors and illustrators for the 2002 Young Readers Conference, Oct. 18-19.

The guests include Dorothy Hinshaw Patent author of Children's Choice Award book Hugger to the Rescue and Apple Trees; Colleen McKenna, author of Good Grief?Third Grade and Third Grade Stinks; Martha Freeman, author of The Spy Wore Shades and The Year My Parents Ruined My Life; Patrick Jennings, author of The Beastly Arms and Faith and the Rocket Cat.

Presenters of the event estimate that more than 600 third- through sixth-graders will attend the two-day session to visit with the authors and listen as they present their publications.

In order to ensure the opportunity to attend the conference, all attendees are asked to pay a $15 registration fee by September 30.

Sponsors of the Young Readers Conference include FHSU, the Kansas Center for the Book, and many libraries.
