FHSU's Department of Nursing receives grant for Geriatric Education Center

Thanks to a grant from the federal Bureau of Health Professions, Fort Hays State University's Department of Nursing will join with the University of Kansas Center on Aging to create a Geriatric Education Center.

The $513,972 grant, to be divided between FHSU's Elderlinks Center and KU's Center on Aging, will provide funding for five years to develop online education materials for professionals who work with the elderly.

Dr. Liane Connelly, associate professor of nursing, will be the FHSU site coordinator for the partnership. Other FHSU faculty involved include Dr. Nancy Blume, associate professor of nursing; Elizabeth Copeland, program specialist in the Communication Disorders Department; Dr. Amy Finch, associate professor of communication disorders; Dr. Greg Kandt, associate professor of health and human performance; and Patricia Levy, assistant professor of social work.
