HAYS, KS - High school students from eight counties and two cities in another county will be honored at a Student Recognition program in Dodge City at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27. The program will be at the Silver Spur Lodge, 1510 W. Wyatt Earp Blvd.
The students will be from Ford, Gray, Hodgeman, Edwards, Kiowa, Comanche, Clark and Meade counties, and from Ness City and Bazine in Ness County.
Students who have been offered academic scholarships to FHSU will receive a certificate, a lapel pin and a T-shirt at the ceremony. Honorees and their parents will meet FHSU President Edward H. Hammond and will also have an opportunity to visit with university faculty and administrators.
Activities planned for the evening include an address by Dr. Hammond and a dessert buffet. The buffet is sponsored by alumni, friends of the university and area businesses.
Another highlight of the program will be drawings for a $400 scholarship from Emprise Bank-Hays and a $500 gift certificate from Nex-Tech. The recipients must be present to win.
Emprise Bank representatives will be available to counsel students and parents on obtaining student loans to attend FHSU and Nex-Tech representatives will demonstrate computer products and services.
The program is sponsored by Nex-Tech and Emprise Bank, Hays, and the FHSU Alumni Association. Names of local sponsors will be displayed at the program.
