FHSU to serve as host for regional meeting on using community service to meet community needs

Fort Hays State University will be the site of one of six regional meetings to gather input in the development of a unified plan for Kansas on "Using Service as a Strategy to Meet Community Needs."

The Senior Companion Program at FHSU is one of 27 Senior Corps programs funded by the Colorado/Kansas Office of the Corporation for National and Community Service, one of the sponsoring agencies for the meetings.

The FHSU meeting is scheduled from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, in the Memorial Union on the campus.

In addition to the Colorado/Kansas CNCS, the meetings are sponsored by the Kansas Commission on National and Community Service and the Kansas State Department of Education.

AmeriCorps' FHSU program is one of 21 funded by the CNCS, which also funds Foster Grandparents and Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs across Kansas.
