Fort Hays State University's Student Government Association and TigerWild are sponsoring a tailgate party as part of the campaign to get a record 1,001 fans to Larks Park on Friday, May 3, for the game with Mesa State.
The Hays Aquatic Park parking lot will be available at 5:30 p.m. for FHSU students to eat and socialize before the big game. The Athletic Department will be selling $1 burgers and brats with a complimentary Pepsi inside the ballpark. Or, students may bring their own food.
In addition to the tailgate party on Friday, TigerWild will also sponsor fun games between games during Saturday's double-header. Six three-member teams are wanted to participate and win prizes. Anyone will be able to sign up for the activities during Friday's game.
"With the end of the school year approaching, we know that finals and projects are on everyone's minds," said Sara McKenna, TigerWild member. "Most student organizations are busy electing officers for next year and wrapping up duties for this year. We think that this will be a great opportunity for student groups to get together in a purely social setting and enjoy a great game."
Friday's game against Mesa State begins at 7 p.m. The parking lot will be available beginning at 5:30.
