FHSU College of Business changes name to reflect leadership, uniqueness
02/01/2000

Fort Hays State University's College of Business is leading the way in uniqueness within the Regents System."We're hoping that the name change reflects the uniqueness of our College of Business," said FHSU Provost Larry Gould.

With a 6-0 vote, the Kansas Board of Regents recently approved the name change of the College of Business to the College of Business and Leadership. The name change reflects the only program in the Regents of its kind. Gould said the process of the name change took about a year.

"Leadership Studies became a part of the College of Business on July 1, 1998. Since this time, the faculty has voted to request a name change to the College of Business and Leadership," said Dr. Richard Peters, dean of the College of Business and Leadership.

After receiving the approval of the FHSU Faculty Senate, Gould said, the university sought the approval of the Board of Regents. The name change is effective immediately. However, the Leadership Studies program has continued to maintain its interdisciplinary appeal and attractiveness to all FHSU students. Since 1993, hundreds of students have enrolled and participated in Leadership Studies courses. This curriculum is one of the fastest growing academic programs at Fort Hays State University.
