Riggin's gift to provide scholarships for FHSU students

An endowed fund was recently established in memory of Rick Riggin, a native Kansan who returned to his home state from California to play football for Fort Hays State University in 1967.

Riggin was recruited from a Riverside, CA, junior college by former FHSU football coach Wayne McConnell. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in physical education from FHSU in 1970.

Because of his fond memories of FHSU, Riggin designated the FHSU Endowment Association as beneficiary of his IRA. Riggin died suddenly of a heart attack in 2005.

Riggin's generosity will help fund scholarships and other needs at FHSU.
