37 students nominated for FHSU Torch Award

Thirty-seven graduating seniors at Fort Hays State University have been recognized as 2006 Torch Award nominees.

The award is given annually by the FHSU Alumni Association to an outstanding senior based on leadership, high personal standards of conduct, commitment and outstanding academic achievement. Students are nominated by faculty members.

The winner will be announced at the Graduate Faculty Brunch at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 12, in the Fort Hays Ballroom of the Memorial Union. The brunch honors all FHSU graduating students and is sponsored by the Alumni Association. The association, established in 1916, is dedicated to identifying and serving the needs of more than 38,000 graduates living throughout the United States and 61 foreign countries.

The nominees are listed in alphabetical order with their parents, degrees and majors. The hometown newspaper each student requested is listed in bold type at the end of each entry.

Nolan Banks, son of David and Peggy Banks, 117 S. Parkridge, Wichita, graduated from Wichita High School Northwest. He will graduate with a bachelor of science in information networking and telecommunications.

Melissa Barb, daughter of Ed and Diana Barb, Garden City, graduated from Garden City High School. He will graduate with a bachelor of science in psychology.

Jacquelyn Beal, daughter of John and Joan Beal, Goodland, graduated from Goodland High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of science in psychology.

Julie Becker, daughter of Alice and Randyl Becker, Russell, graduated from Russell High School. She will graduate with an associate of science in radiologic technology and a bachelor of science in medical diagnostic imaging.

Clarissa Bell, daughter of Dean and Lyndi Bell, Agra, graduated from Eastern Heights High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of science in elementary education.

Natalie Blair, daughter of Stanley and Theresa Blair, Oakley, graduated from Oakley High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts in communication studies.

Lindsey Bowers, daughter of Barry and Donna Bowers, Abilene, graduated from Concordia High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts in history and a bachelor of science in secondary education.

Sarah Braun, daughter of Jim and Sandy Braun, Hays, graduated from Hays High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of science in organizational leadership and a bachelor of arts in communication studies.

Kristina Campbell, daughter of Danny and Carol Sue Campbell, Garden City, graduated from Garden City High School. She will graduate with an associate of science in radiologic technology and a bachelor of science in medical diagnostic imaging.

Joshua Conner, son of Jerry and Julie Boman, Leon, graduated from Bluestem High School. He will graduate with a bachelor of science in elementary education.

Jason Crist, son of Jeff and Barb Crist, Bennington, graduated from Bennington High School. He will graduate with a bachelor of science in mathematics and a bachelor of science in secondary education.

Laci Dearden, daughter of Hugh and Berta Binns, Scott City, and Kirk Dearden, Tulsa, OK, graduated from Wichita County High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology.

Susan Deges, daughter of John and Rita Oborny, Rush Center, graduated from LaCrosse High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts in English, a bachelor of arts in psychology and a bachelor of science in secondary education.

Donna Devlin, daughter of Dennis and Ann Reinert, Smith Center, graduated from White Rock High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts in history and a bachelor of science in secondary education.

Susan Dumler, daughter of Stevan and Sharon Cooper, Chase, graduated from Chase High School. She will graduate with an associate of science in radiologic technology and a bachelor of science in medical diagnostic imaging.

David Fields, son of Richard and Dixie Fields, Menlo, graduated from Golden Plains High School. He will graduate with a bachelor of science in information networking and telecommunications.

Theodore Foster, son of James and Laurie Foster, Hays, graduated from Columbus Unified High School. He will graduate with a bachelor of science in elementary education.

Jessica Goodale, daughter of Doug and Debbie Smart, Abilene, graduated from Abilene High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts in communication studies.

Nicholas Haase, son of David and Teresa Haase, 523 N. Forestview Court, Wichita, graduated from Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. He will graduate with a bachelor of business administration in computer information systems.

Jenna Hoffhines, daughter of Michael and Theresa Hoffhines, 2318 Quincy St., Salina, graduated from Salina South High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of science in speech-language pathology. Salina Journal.

Lisa Linhart, daughter of David and Janet Hubbard, 9301 Briarwood, Wichita, and Mike and Marcia Payne, graduated from Wichita High School Northwest. She will graduate with a bachelor of science in medical diagnostic imaging.

Heidi Makings, daughter of Dan and Linda Zeigler, Natoma, graduated from Natoma High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of science in elementary education.

Kathryn Mayes, daughter of John and Lindy Mayes, Abilene, graduated from Chapman High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts in communication studies.

Cassandra McDonald, daughter of John and Mary McDonald, Abilene, graduated from Minneapolis High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of business administration in management.

Jayna Montoia, daughter of Paul and Leila Montoia, Farmington, NM, formerly of Hays, graduated from Hays High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science in organizational leadership.

Amy Morris, daughter of Woody and K. Angela Hall, Overland Park, graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School. She will graduate with a bachelor of arts in English.
