Political Science faculty attended national conference in Chicago

Fort Hays State University political science faculty recently attended the 2006 national conference of the Midwest Political Science Association in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Shala Mills, associate professor of political science, presented "Politics, Pop Culture and the Teachable Moment" with Dr. Chapman Rackaway, assistant professor of political science, serving as Roundtable chair.

Rackaway and Dr. Michael Suchoparek, assistant professor of justice studies, presented "Challenging Others or Censoring the Self? Attitudes of Censorship and Academic Freedom Among University Faculty" as part of the "Public and Elite Attitudes Toward Civil Liberities" panel.

Dr. Josephine Squires, associate professor of political science, presented a paper titled "Self-Identity in Elite and Populist Perspectives on a European Constitution" as part of "The Making of Europe's Constitution" panel. Squires also served as chair and discussant for the "Extreme Politics--Social Movements and Political Parties" and "Policy Making in Europe" panels.
