Philosophy Department to host Civil Discussions of Controversial Issues

Fort Hays State University's Department of Philosophy will host a public forum "Civil Discussions of Controversial Issues" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the Hays Public Library gallery.

The forum will showcase guest speaker Walt Schrepel, who will discuss the case study, "The Battle of Jenin: Ethics in Counter-Terrorism" and what the contemporary problems are in complying with the "law of war."

Schrepel spent 20 years as an infantry officer and currently works as a training analyst for Operations Group Contemporary Operational Environment. He earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree in philosophy and adult education from the United States Military Academy.
