Fort Hays State University's College of Health and Life Sciences recently named Dr. Liane Connelly, professor of nursing, as permanent chair of the Department of Nursing. She has been serving as interim chair since 2004.
"The department is very fortunate to have someone with Liane's skills," said Dr. Jeff Briggs, Dean of the College of Health and Human Performance. "I know that after serving 18 months as department interim chair, she will continue to provide outstanding leadership in the department, especially since she has an outstanding faculty to work with which is the key to any successful department."
"Our department is growing, and my goal is to develop our department to be the best in Kansas," said Connelly. "I believe I have the best faculty and students to make this goal a reality. We have a very strong core faculty who have a great deal of experience in not only the clinical but also the teaching area as well."
Connelly received her associate degree in 1981 from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE, her bachelor's in 1985 from Mercy College of Detroit, Detroit, MI, her master's in 1993 from Clarkson College, Omaha, NE, and her doctorate in 1997 from Kansas State University, Manhattan. She has been with FHSU since 1993. Connelly is married to Jay Connelly and has two children, Blake and Krista.
