Advertising and design work by Fort Hays State University was recognized by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education with several awards at the 2006 CASE District VI regional conference on Jan. 24 in St. Louis, MO.
"There are several different departments of the university that are members of CASE. Every year we pick promotional projects that we've created in the previous year which fit into the competition categories," said Mary Ridgway, art director of University Relations at FHSU.
University Relations received gold in Excellence in Advertising for the single print ad division for its Virtual College ad for Pitch Magazine. The ad was developed by Casey Rackaway, Academic Affairs marketing specialist, and the design work was done by Ridgway.
The Center for Teaching Excellence and Learning Technology received gold in the Excellence in Multimedia category for its CD/DVD, "New Faculty Orientation," created by CTELT and the Virtual College.
University Relations earned silver in Excellence in Advertising for billboard/environmental advertising for the "FHSU Stock Car and Trailer" by Rackaway and Ridgway.
The Alumni Association received bronze in Excellence in Graphic Design of a single brochure of one, two or three colors division for their piece, "Half-Century Club Induction and Brunch Program." The brochure was created by the Alumni Association and University Relations. Assistant Alumni Director Ryan Harms wrote the copy, and University Relations student designer Anne M. Duarte, Lima, Peru, senior, was the designer.
The FHSU Endowment Association earned silver in Excellence in Educational Fundraising in the category of non-recurring special constituency giving program.
FHSU competed against other universities in District VI, including Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, Wichita State University, Missouri State University, Iowa State University, Colorado State University, the University of Colorado at Boulder and the United States Air Force Academy.
