01/24/2006

Fort Hays State University is proud to announce that the Master of Liberal Studies program has added two new concentrations to the more than 20 already offered. The new concentrations are in educational leadership and management and in information assurance. Both will be available through distance education.

The MLS is a unique interdisciplinary graduate program available through the College of Arts and Sciences at FHSU. The program consists of a 10-hour core requirement, an 18-hour customized plan of study and a 3-hour culminating experience for a total of 31 credit hours. The MLS is directed toward the non-traditional student seeking career enhancement or life enrichment through graduate liberal study. The MLS offers many students an opportunity to complete a graduate degree they would not otherwise be able to receive.

The MLS concentration in educational leadership and management is offered through the College of Education and Technology. Students earning this degree can select one of three concentrations: Instructional, Administrative or Technology. This degree does not lead to licensure in the state of Kansas.

More information about the educational leadership and management concentration can be found by visiting http://www.fhsu.edu/mls/conc/elm.shtml. Questions can be directed to Dr. Ray Johnson, associate professor of educational administration and counseling. He can be reached at (785) 628-4545 or by e-mail at rjohnson@fhsu.edu.

The MLS concentration in information assurance is offered through the Department of Information Networking and Telecommunication. This degree program affords students an opportunity to develop a mastery of information practices, network security software and hardware applications and operating systems.

More information about the information assurance concentration can be found at http://www.fhsu.edu/mls/conc/ia.shtml.

Questions can be directed to Dr. Mark Bannister, Information Networking and Telecommunications Department chair. He can be reached at (785) 628-5373 or by e-mailing markbannister@fhsu.edu.
