HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University Theatre will perform William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew from April 25-28 in Felten-Start Theatre, Malloy Hall, on the FHSU campus. All performances begin at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:30 p.m.
"The Taming of the Shrew is sure to delight anyone and everyone who attends," said Dr. Stephen Shapiro, director of theatre.
"This classic comedy about the battle of the sexes takes on a new twist in the current production -- it has been modernized and set in Texas. You will still recognize the timeless humor of Shakespeare's plot and characters, but for this production they will come with a Texas accent and references to Amarillo, El Paso, cars and bosses and employees rather than Italian locations, horses and masters and servants," he said.
"The cast and crew of this production are supremely talented, creative and energized, and look forward to presenting this rollicking comedy to anyone who is looking for a happy evening in the theatre."
Shapiro is directing; Bruce Bardwell, technical director, is the set and light designer; and Emon Gaines, Wichita freshman, is designing the costumes.
