FHSU May concert schedule announced

HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University's Department of Music has announced its concert schedule for the month of May.

At 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, the Hays Symphony Orchestra, Fort Hays Singers, Concert Choir and Hays Community Choir will present Johannes Brahms' Requiem in memory of Ed Moyers, who taught strings at FHSU for 29 years before retiring in 1987. Moyers died in August 2001.

Dr. Rager Moore, assistant professor of music, will direct the concert, which will feature guest soloist Brian Stranghoner singing tenor and Great Bend senior Alisha Erwin singing soprano.

The Symphonic Winds and Wind Ensemble will present a concert Thursday, May 9, at 8 p.m. under the direction of Dr. Mike Robinson and Dr. Bob Conger, assistant professors of music.

Both concerts will be held in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the FHSU campus. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and youth age 13-18, and free for FHSU students and children under 12.
