HAYS, KS -- Five members of the Fort Hays State University Communication Department attended the Central States Communication Association convention in Milwaukee from April 3 through 7.
Dr. Patricia Griffin, assistant professor of communication, presented a paper on "Gender Activities for the Classroom."
Jennie Straight, assistant professor of communication, chaired the "Competitive Papers in Public Relations" session. She also assumed the duties of vice chair of the Public Relations Interest Group.
Dr. Mahboub Hashem, professor of communication, presented a paper on "The Middle East in the Intercultural Communication Course."
Dr. Carrol Haggard, chair of the Department of Communication, and Dr. Sue Strohkirch, associate professor of communication, jointly presented two papers: "The Status of the Use of Student Resource Manuals in the Basic Course" and "Student Resource Manuals: Developing a Course-Specific Manual."
Strohkirch also chaired a panel on "Gender Constructions" and assumed the chair of the Women's Caucus after serving as vice-chair this year. The vice chair is responsible for planning the interest group's programming.
Haggard was elected vice-chair-elect of the Undergraduate Program Interest Group.
