FHSU's Sigma Xi chapter to host Science Research Showcase

HAYS, KS -- Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society of Fort Hays State University, will sponsor the second annual Science Research Showcase April 26 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Black and Gold Ballroom of FHSU's Memorial Union.

The Science Research Showcase was created last year to provide a venue for students to present posters describing their scientific research projects and results. This year, faculty members are invited to participate as well.

"Last year's showcase was very successful, and we hope this year we get even more excellent posters illustrating the interesting and exciting scientific research going on here at FHSU," said Dr. John Heinrichs, assistant professor of geosciences.

"If you are a faculty member or student doing research, this is an ideal opportunity to show off your work and get some feedback from your colleagues."

Sigma Xi will sponsor a portion of the printing cost of each poster, as well as awarding cash prizes for the best posters in various categories; refreshments will also be provided on the day of the showcase.

For more information, including poster specifications and deadlines, please contact Heinrichs at (785) 628-4536; Dr. Loretta Dorn, associate professor of chemistry, at (785) 628-4032; or Dr. Elmer Finck, professor of biological sciences, at (785) 628-4214.
