FHSU leadership students land internships

HAYS, KS -- Comprehensive leadership training through Fort Hays State University's innovative Department of Leadership Studies has helped four FHSU students in landing internships for the spring 2002 semester.

Haley Baldwin, McPherson senior, and Eric Richards, WaKeeney senior, are interning with the Downtown Hays Development Committee on the Chestnut Street District revitalization effort.

Baldwin, a communications major, is working with the DHDC to draft a physical improvement plan for the downtown area.

Richards, a technology studies major, is working as a draftsman for the DHDC to create drawings and maps for the Chestnut Street District.

Both Baldwin and Richards are minoring in leadership studies.

Tara Towns, Stockton sophomore, and Kelley Kuhlmann, Dodge City sophomore, are interning with FHSU Academic Affairs Marketing Specialist Tonja Vallin.

Towns and Kuhlmann, both organizational leadership majors, designed a marketing and recruitment program to convince high school students of the importance of leadership involvement. They will spend this semester speaking at area high schools to perfect their program.
