HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University's Encore Series continues its spring schedule with a performance by Imago Theatre, which will perform its new production, "Frogz," at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center.
"Frogz" recently played on Broadway at the acclaimed New Victory Theatre.
Imago Theatre began in 1979, performing mask theatre in small communities in America's Northwest. Six years later, in 1986, the company began touring internationally.
Its productions attempt to transport audiences to mysterious, fantastical imaginary universes. The company has been honored consistently by the National Endowment for the Arts and has presented on stage in Europe, Asia, Russia and North America.
"Frogz" is considered "creature-theatre," populated with penguins, sloths, frogs, and numerous other "thingz." The productions use ingenious masks, movement, unusual costumes and music. Performances include a mysteriously acrobatic worm, an invisible cat and mischievous orbs.
Tickets for "Frogz" are available at the Student Service Center in the Memorial Union and may be charged by phone at (785) 628-5306. Reserved tickets for the general public are $12, children under 18 and senior citizens are $10 and FHSU student prices are $8. Unreserved tickets are $8, $6, and $4, respectively.
