HAYS, KS -- One Fort Hays State University faculty member was honored and several others made presentations at the annual state convention of the Kansas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance in Topeka last fall.
The KAHPERD conference was attended by more than 400 professionals and students from around the state. At the conference several FHSU faculty members gave presentations.
Dr. Steve Sedbrook, associate professor of Health and Human Performance was honored as the KAHPERD Outstanding Health Education Professional of the Year.
The presentations included:
Dr. Jeff Briggs, FHSU associate professor of HHP; Sedbrook, associate professor of HHP; and Dr. John Zody, professor of HHP, presented "Program Assessment in HPERD Professions."
Hector Garcia, FHSU graduate student, presented "International Perspectives on Developing Elite Athletes."
Jeff Burnett, assistant professor of HHP; Lynn Maska, instructor of HHP; and Duane Shepherd, assistant professor of HHP, presented "Leisure, Quality of Life and the Older Adult."
Ben Bond, FHSU senior; Sedbrook; and former FHSU students Lee Weber, Shawn Cook and Jennifer Fitzpatrick presented "Health HITS."
Dr. Greg Kandt, associate professor of HHP; and Mike Leiker, former FHSU graduate student, presented "Golf as a Physical Activity: Exercise or Joke?"
