12/12/2001

HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University's Phi Delta Kappa has received the outstanding newsletter award for outstanding newsletter design and content. Phi Delta Kappa submitted four newsletters for the competition.

Phi Delta Kappa is an international education honorary organization, which promotes teaching, research and service in educational endeavors. Educators have the option to join the honorary organization after receiving an invitation from any of the existing 400 local members.

PDK's international association sponsors the newsletter contest yearly.

"We are very proud of our newsletter," said Dr. Germaine Taggart, PDK newsletter editor and assistant professor of teacher education. "The Fort Hays chapter has won top recognition on five separate occasions for the past nine years." At that time, PDK editor Taggart and newsletter designer Jaclyn White, senior administrative assistant for FHSU's Office of University Relations, worked on the newsletter.
