HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University will be proudly welcoming a new student organization, Tiger Wild, onto campus Saturday during a kick-off ceremony and news conference during TailGreat at Lewis Field Stadium.
The group's father figure, Victor E. Tiger, will cruise over to the organization's booth at 6 p.m. with a short news conference to follow. FHSU President Edward H. Hammond and Dr. Diane Pfeifer, assistant vice president of Student Affairs, will speak. In addition, two of the founding members of Tiger Wild will also speak.
Tiger Wild is a student-initiated attempt to create an environment of intense school pride at all athletic contests, campus events and in the community. Intent on supporting all Tiger athletics, not just the "tier 1" sports of football and basketball, Tiger Wild hopes to compliment the efforts of the Athletic Department, the cheer squads and the band.
Tiger Wild is open to all enthusiastic FHSU students who enjoy supporting athletics and having fun on the sidelines. Some of the benefits of joining the organization include a T-shirt, designated seating at games, pre-game and post-game activities and possible road trips.
